The Song of Songs: The Heart of Sacred Scripture
The Song of Songs is a book of the Bible that is sometimes avoided or misunderstood. After all, why has a poem of human love been included in the canon of Sacred Scripture? This talk will explore the uniqueness of the Song of Songs, and will suggest that - contrary to initial appearances - this love poem is the beating heart of all Sacred Scripture, for it sings of the unfathomable and unbreakable love of God for each human person. The talk will also feature a reading of sections of the Song of Songs with commentary, so that together the riches of the text might be unfolded to aid understanding and to deepen our spiritual life.
