Bio
As members of St. Mary’s Parish in Corvallis, Oregon, one of the parishes under the care of the St. John Society, Catherine and David Otto have heard the call to grow in faith and holiness and to be witnesses of Jesus Christ. They have been formed in faith by the monks of Mount Angel Abbey, of which they have been Oblates for twenty-three years, and by the pastoral ministry of the Saint John Society. Catherine and David participated in the inaugural cohort of the Certificate in Evangelization, completing it in June 2023. They now return as Program Directors to accompany students in the CE program.
Catherine and David Otto have raised a family of four children and now enjoy grandparenting one grandson. Catherine recently retired from a thirty-one year career as a elementary school teacher. With undergraduate and graduate work in physical and biological geography, geographic information science and cartography, David has worked in many roles: as a county land use planner, sheriff’s deputy, office manager and licensing contract manager for a wireless communications software startup, and currently as the part-time manager for his parish’s cemetery.
