Bio
Michael Sauter is the Director of the Department of Pastoral Services for the Diocese of Rochester. He earned his Master's in Theological Studies at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in 2001 and has taught in both the History and Philosophy Departments at SUNY Geneseo where he also served as Director of Catholic Campus Ministry for 20 years. Mike has twice served as a Pastoral Administrator in the Diocese of Rochester and served for six years as the Director of the Retreat Houses at the Trappist Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, NY. He is married, has 4 grown children, and is an avid gardener and has raised pigs, goats and chickens, both at the monastery and at home. Mike has deep interests in social teaching of the Church, and a particular emphasis on subsidiarity, solidarity, and localism. He writes often for a localist website, Front Porch Republic, and is also a regular contributor to the journal Jesus the Imagination, published by Angelico Press.
